De-worming and Its Importance

De-worming is another important part of our pet’s health. Many of our pets are exposed to parasites in their everyday lives.  Our pets can get parasites from contaminated feces, fleas, contaminated soil as well as from their mother’s milk while nursing. Puppies and kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks until they are old enough to receive an adult dewormer. All pets should be de-wormed annually and for our higher exposed pets, hunting dog, outdoor cats and farm dogs and cats they should be de-wormed more frequently.  De-worming schedules vary based on your pet’s exposure and range from every other month to every three months to every six months.
